Wayne Teasdale is a Christian sannyasi, that is
a Christian monk in the Indian monastic tradition, perhaps the oldest in the world with
its wandering holy men, who left all behind to seek the Absolute. He was initiated as a
Christian sannyasi by Bede Griffiths, OSB in 1989. He teaches at De Paul University and is
active in the East-West dialogue, and is especially interested in the cause of a free
Tibet. His book The Mystic Heart was recently published. He is also the
author of a major study on Bede Griffiths called Toward a Christian Vedanta. We talked to him at Mercy Center in Burlingame, California where he was helping to lead a Hindu-Christian retreat called "The Cave of the Heart." Wayne passed away in 2005.
